I started this project a couple of years ago as a way of keeping my creativity and curiosity alive, not to mention my hands busy.
Being a bit of a notebook(and all things paper)addict, bookbinding felt like the natural thing to do, so I started by making bespoke journals and sketchbooks for my friends.
Whenever I am working on a book project, I always customise it to the needs of my customers, not only in choice of colours and size, but also by adding special features, such such as a pen loop, elastic closure, inside pocket, etc. I like to give them a unique and original product that they'll be satisfied with.
When choosing my materials, I try to recycle/upcycle as much as possible. For instance, I might use a cereal box for the covers, or use old clothing as the canvas for my handpainted covers. For the sketchbooks, I choose recycled sketching paper, but always from the best quality I can find.
In brief, a 21Kittens journal or sketchbook will always be a quality, one-of-a-kind creation.
